The Facts
Steve is an Americana artist. He's a story teller in the folk / country tradition with roots in classic pop and rock. He's enjoying success with his latest release "Jack Of All Trades", reaching number ten on the folk d.j.charts last March and making the top one hundred for 2013. "Jack Of All Trades" was produced by master guitarist, singer/songwriter Peter Calo who, besides creating and playing his own great songs has lent his guitar playing talents to legendary songwriters Carly Simon and Jimmy Webb to name but a few.
Born and raised on Long Island, Steve's been playing music since his teens as well as acting, writing plays and occasionally directing. He's won a handful of songwriting competitions including Noel Paul Stookey's "Music To Life" (Grand Prize) The WildFlower Music and Art Festival, Woody Guthrie Festival (3rd place) Hudson Valley SongFest, Dallas Songwriters', as well as being named a three time Kerrville Newfolk Finalist and a Falcon Ridge Emerging Artist in 2012. He's acted in many plays over the years including world premiere's of Rebecca Gilman's "The Land Of Little Horses" Eric Bentley's translation of "Wedekinds' "The First Lulu" , David Fishelson's adaptation of Dostoevsky's "The Idiot" and Ted Swindley's "Summer Of '66" playng legendary Nashville T.V. producer Jim Owens. He made his one and only mark on world cinema creating the role of White Boy #3 in the Dolph Lundgren classic "I Come In Peace". His music, acting and directing experience has melded over time to make him a captivating, heartfelt performer able to hold the stage whether playing with a full band or as a solo performer.
Steve recently returned from the South Florida Folk Festival where he was chosen one of three winners of their songwriting competition. He's looking forward to playing there again in 2015.
For the past three years he's been one half of the duo "The Flynns" along with guitarist extroadinaire Kevin Allen, playing everything from classic Irish tunes to the American Songbook from the 1950's through the new millenium.
He also fronts the band "The Accidental Gypsies", featuring Eric Puente on drums, Bill Gordon on bass, Peter Calo on guitar and Paul Silverman (Of the Ya Ya's) on keys. A band that does sporadic celebrations of the music of the Beatles on or around their birthdays.
